The budgie is a type of parakeet and parakeet means miniature parrot! Budgies are known to speak even better than some of the larger talking bird species. They come in a variety of colors and color mutations with the original wild budgie being yellow and green, from Australia. These wonderful little birds have a life span of 5 to 8 years and benefit from living in pairs or groups rather than alone.
